The challenge
Laugh More and Often (LMAO) Comedy Festival needed a clear visual identity to launch the event in it’s first year. An off-screen approach was required to be incorporated into a theme for the initial festival. Manchester, UK, hosts this weekend-long event, with a diverse range of top comedians and performers appearing at multiple venues across the city.
The solution
As the event was to be spread out across Manchester over just one weekend, a bold and visually distinct approach was taken. Developing a theme of ‘guts and giggles’, the visual identity balances a fine line between left-leaning, social and political outrage, and raucous jokes with cutting-edge commentary. Laugh loud, speak boldly, and stand up together, encapsulates the fun yet gutsy concept . Knowing that the audience will be made up of die-hard comedy fans, blended with families looking for a fun weekend in the city, the design is driven by the idea of the playfulness - and the messiness - of life.
