Bristol, do you mind? was an audience-participatory performance following a series of workshops, presented by Many Minds. Running 18th September – 12th December 2023.
Over ten weeks Many Minds explored the city of Bristol, reflecting on our members' memories and issues surrounding accessibility and belonging. This series was facilitated by theatre and performance artist Carlota Matos. The series took place at Travelling Light Studio, Wellspring Settlement, Bristol, UK.
In an Access Volunteer role, I supported Many Minds members, working to remove physical and psychological barriers to attending and taking part in the series. I also performed alongside members in the performance: encouraging, improvising, and then facilitating the audience to co-produce the performance through exploration of their memories and thoughts surrounding Bristol.
Mapping emerged as a feature in the workshops and performance, documenting memories through found objects in the theatre space, transforming thoughts into physical records.
Many Minds is an arts-based mental health charity based in Bristol, UK.
